Decorative early 19th century Regency period black painted plaster classically dressed ''Muse'' candlestick in the manner of Humphrey Hopper (1767–1844). The nicely modelled muse is depicted holding a draped bowl on which sits a gilt bronze candle cup. On a white marble block base. Unsigned. English, circa 1820.
