Pretty Sterling Silver Art Nouveau Cherub Dish 1906 US Import 5 Inch

1900 - 1920
Description

A beautiful American Art Nouveau solid sterling silver dish. It is hallmarked for STERLING along with the makers marks of the Uger Bros of Newark NJ who operated c1872-1914. It also has English import marks for Birmingham 1906. It has been superbly designed with the centre being embossed with the image of a cherub kissing a lady, the rim embossed with roses. It's an image from a painting by Willem Martens known as Loves Kiss amongst other titles which may symbolises a maiden dreaming of love or being touch by Cupid. It is in superb condition being free from dings, splits, holes and repairs. It measures approx. 5 inches (12.8cms) across and weighs 50 grams. A beautiful piece.
