So lovely to hold in one's hand. The exterior of the box is beautifully engraved to both the front and back with an oval shaped vacant cartouche in the centre of the front. The lid of the box has a flush hidden hinge so to enhance the overall appearance. Inside the lovely original gilded finish is revealed, along with the hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1891 Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the silver maker's mark: Hilliard & Thomason
