Mid-century jewellery typically features clean lines, innovative use of metals like platinum and yellow gold, and streamlined geometric motifs that moved away from heavy Victorian ornamentation.

Engagement rings from this period commonly combined yellow gold shanks with white gold or platinum settings to enhance the brilliance of the diamonds.

Authentic pieces often exhibit period-specific setting techniques such as milgraining, hand-cut diamonds like old European or early brilliant cuts, and traditional hallmark stamps.

A vintage ring can be paired with a simple, plain metal wedding band to let the intricate historical detailing of the engagement setting remain the focal point.

Vintage jewellery should be cleaned gently using warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh ultrasonic cleaners that can loosen older stones or delicate settings.
