The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has been superbly designed to which is termed fiddle thread & shell pattern handle that has been engraved with the crest used by the Seymour family more precisely Sir Edward Hobart Seymour famous for serving in the Royal Navy in the Crimea, commanding The China Station and being involved in the Boxer Rebellion. It is in very good condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures approx. 7.25 inches (18.5cms) long by 1 inch (2.6cms) wide and weighs 68 grams. A very rare piece of Anglo - Chinese history.
