Beautiful rare English solid sterling silver sugar tongs. They are hallmarked with the lion passant and Kings Head duty mark and the makers mark of Hester Bateman, these marks were used c1780s. They have been beautifully designed with a bright cut pattern and acorn grips. They have been engraved with the initials GRH. They are in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. They measure approx. 5.25 inches (13.2cms) long by 2 inches (5.2cms) across the grips and weigh 28 grams. Superb unusual examples.
