Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique Gorravan runner from 1910 brings traditional Persian style to a home interior. This narrow rug has natural dyes and a rustic Mina khani field design, executed in wool and cotton with a low pile in places and all edges newly secured. The rust-red field contains repeating geometric medallions in blue, pink, and turquoise, alongside repeating star motifs and geometric border guard bands in a symmetrical field design. The piece measures 278 cm high, 63 cm wide, and 1 cm deep. It functions effectively as a decorative floor covering in hallways, narrow corridors, or transitional spaces within an English Country House setting, adding warmth and traditional pattern to a floor scheme.

FAQs

Gorravan rugs are a distinct variant of Heriz textiles from North-West Persia, characterised by angular geometric medallions, vibrant vegetable dyes, and highly durable construction suitable for high-traffic corridors.

Authentic Persian runners are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation.

An authentic hand-knotted rug displays slight asymmetrical variations in the pattern, natural dye color shifts known as abrash, and a soft backing where the weave pattern is clearly visible.

Position the runner in narrow spaces such as entryways, hallways, or beside a bed to add structural geometric detail and warmth against wooden or stone flooring.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating brush, use a high-quality non-slip rug pad, and address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth and cold water.
