A superb good sized solid sterling silver box. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1903 with the makers mark C&S. It has been beautifully made having an oval form with plannished finished. The inside has been gilded. It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. To open it you squeeze the sides, note the steel spring should extend further flipping the lid open automatically but has snapped short at some time hence you have to lift the lid by hand once squeezed open - this spring is easy for a silversmith to replace. It measures approx. 3.25 inches (8.3cms) across by 2.5 inches (6.2cms) by almost 1 inch tall and weighs 78 grams. A well made unusual piece.
