Superior Rare Silver Tea Caddy Birmingham 1914

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

What can only be described as a most superior beautifully styled, antique, solid silver Tea Caddy. The shape is unusual as it is in a navette style, with an attractive lid that rises at either end, adding to the unique shape of the caddy. The pretty floral design pierced handle folds neatly. The silver is plain polished with no engraving or embossing, enhancing the stylish appearance. When opened the caddy reveals clear hallmarks on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark: 1914, along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker''s mark for the silver maker: A & J Zimmerman Ltd. Partial marks also visible on the lid.
