Late Georgian Secretaire Bookcase

19th century
Description

Including delivery to NR21 7AN

This handsome late Georgian to Regency period secretaire bookcase is made in a pale mahogany with marquetry inlays and a satinwood interior, so it keeps a large piece of furniture feeling lighter than some of the rich mahogany alternatives.

Simple classic lines which are complimented by the oval marquetry panels and those wonderful feet. The interior satinwood drawers have a fine string inlay and the blue crushed velvet give it a punch of colour!

This can be a very practical piece for a working home office with good surface space.

The top bookcase section with the astragal glaxing has three fully adjustable shelves, the drawers and pigeon holes to the secretaire but also unusually to the base you have a full set of slides which would be great storage for plans and paperwork, or whatever else needs tucking away.

The piece splits into two parts, so delivery is no problem.

Great piece and a wonderful colour and patina.

Measuring:

85 1/4 inches or 216.5 cm high

50 1/4 inches or 127.5 cm wide

22 inches or 56 cm base depth

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
