A spectacular late Victorian silver mounted easel mirror with hallmarks for Birmingham 1899 and renowned maker Henry Matthews. The silver mirror frame is made in the most ornate sumptuous design with an arch top and vacant shield (for initials or crest) spreading out to a scrolling pierced silver surround of a floral and leafy naturalistic design. The mirror is bevelled and is miraculously shaped and bevelled to follow the undulating edge of the silver frame. The back and easel stand are covered in burgundy red velvet. The condition is superb with no damage or signs of wear.
