Ancient Greek Gold & Amethyst Pomegranate Pendant

This splendid ancient Greek gold and amethyst pendant dates from the Hellenistic or Classical Greek period. The amethyst has been cut to a pomegranate shape, then centrally drilled to enable it to contain a pin which is then secured by two scalloped shaped settings. There is a loop attached to the top to act as a pendant bail. The fittings have been decorated in gold wires and grains, forming a stunning and unquestionably exquisite artefact. This beautiful item has been created by a skilled craftsman long ago and has remained in a fantastic condition. Own an important piece of history, combined with a gorgeous item of jewellery. CONDITION

Very Good. This ancient Greek gold and amethyst pendant is in a fantastic condition showing only very little signs of imperfection. Whilst it is in a superb condition and can be worn, we advise that great care be taken care of it. The pendant has been excavated, then professionally cleaned. There are some blemishes to the amethyst to be expected with an item of this age, the metalwork is all is very good order. Overall the pendant is in an outstanding condition bearing in mind its great age.

This pendant is supplied with a full independent 5 page report and XRF analysis. The XRF analysis is used to identify the material makeup of an object and confirms that no modern trace elements exist within it, therefore confirming its authenticity.
