Stunning Art Deco Silver & Blue Guilloche Enamel Compact

A superior and stunning guilloche enamel silver Compact.

  

This compact is hexagonal in shape and is enamelled in the most beautiful bright sky blue colour, applied in the very decorative and precise guilloche technique that produces an almost two-tone and three dimension effect, and features an art deco pattern.

  

The lid is hinged, which when opened by the clasp reveals a mirror (which is in very good condition) and a lovely plain polished silver compartment where powder could be placed. The base has an engine turned pattern for decoration (some slight surface marks to the silver base, commensurate with age and mentioned for accuracy). The interior also bears the hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1947 and Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver. The maker's mark is also visible for the renowned silversmith: William Neale & Son Ltd.

  

Condition: The enamel to the lid is in great condition as is the silver. (Any minor imperfections are mentioned above.)
