Rare Silver Gilt Double Ended Scent Bottle by John Harris, London, 1857.

19th century
Description

A silver gilt double ended scent bottle, fully hallmarked for silversmith John Harris, London, 1857. The piece was retailed by Thomas Diller of London, with the inside pop-up lid having the necessary gold crown.

The scent bottle has two lids, one with a pop-up mechanism, the other a screw top. The pop-up mechanism is a little stiff but works as it should, likewise the screw top. There is a small dink to the lid of the screw top (please see photographs). There are some small nibbles to the glass in places but overall the piece remains in a good condition.
