Description:

Here is a fine quality English Victorian solid mahogany carved open bookcase, circa 1880, with good colour and in excellent original condition. Incorporating single plank moulded top, the bookcase boasts a scribe carved foliate & scroll pediment to the rear of the top, secured by a gallery to the sides and front comprising of a moulded rail atop small turned spindles. The frame is further decorated with fluting and patera carvings and a moulded frieze above the open shelving. The bookcase includes three adjustable shelves with scribe moulded fronts. The original wooden bars can be moved up or down to adjust the height of each shelf. The bookcase stands on a block moulded plinth.

Here is a fine quality English Victorian solid mahogany carved open bookcase, circa 1890, with good colour and in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. This bookcase features a rich mahogany colour having been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. All parts are intact, with no missing spindles are carvings. The shelves and adjustable wooden bars are all intact (none are missing). The bookcase stands on its original plinth and retains its original bracket feet and backboards. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
