Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs, and inspiration drawn from ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt, often executed in fine timbers such as mahogany.

Cabinet makers of this era predominantly used solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, frequently accented with lighter wood stringing like boxwood, alongside brass hardware and hand-blown crown glass.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-accurate construction methods such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer construction, secondary timbers like oak or pine, original brass escutcheons, and signs of age-related oxidisation.

Pairing a dark wood antique cabinet with contemporary neutral walls creates a striking contrast, while styling the interior shelves with a mix of vintage books and modern decorative objects balances old and new.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically nourish the wood using traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone-based polishes.
