Rare Silver Triple Sovereign Case Birmingham 1912

A rare solid silver Triple Sovereign Case. The outer case of the Holder is decorated with an engine turned stripped pattern with an empty circular cartouche in the centre of the front cover. The lid opens perfectly with a push button release, and when opened three spring loaded compartments are revealed in an engine turned pattern, to hold the sovereigns (all of which work faultlessly). The underside of the lid has a pale gold gilt wash and here very clear hallmarks are visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1912 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, along with the maker''s mark for the renowned silversmith: Joseph Gloster Ltd. (Partial hallmarks are also visible on each of the sovereign compartments - see images).
