What can only be described as an utterly exquisite and thoroughly stunning 18ct gold diamond set locket. This Victorian locket is an oval, slightly convex shape. A lovely iconic Victorian, diamond encrusted eight-pointed star is centred on the front of the locket. The varying sizes and shapes of the diamonds catch the light, producing a wonderful sparkly effect. The hinge on one side opens to reveal a complete rimmed glass compartment to enable a photograph or keepsake to be encased. The locket closes perfectly. The back is a lovely smooth plain polished gold, also slightly convex in shape. The colour of the gold is a fabulous deep yellow (has been tested and is 18ct gold).  The locket dates from 1860 - 1880. The very pretty diamond studded bale attached is a later addition and stylistically slightly later in date, circa 1880 - 1900.
