Unusual Victorian Silver Vesta Case By Thomas Johnson II

An unusual Victorian solid silver vesta case with an inner case to hold matches which swings open and neatly fits back in. The outer case is plain silver and there is a striker to the base. At the top there is a large fastening loop for attachment so it could be added to a pocket watch chain.
 
 
 
Hallmarks for the London Assay Office are clearly visible with a date mark for 1884 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker''s mark for the esteemed and very collectable maker is also visible: Thomas Johnson II .

Condition: In great antique condition - opens and closes well. Some very fine scratching
