A rare Japanese solid silver matchbox cover. It is marked Yamanaka Made in Japan and dates to c1920s, it tests as sterling silver. It has been beautifully designed having carved jade applied to the top, Yamanaka were world famous for their jade pieces and a top quality retailer. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures over 2.25 inches (6.1cms) long by 1.5 inches (3.9cms) wide by 0.5 inch (1.2cms) tall excluding the jade and weighs 38 grams. A beautifully made rare piece.
