A very rare early solid sterling silver Mr Punch christening whistle and rattle. It is unmarked but tests as high grade silver and dates to c1800 possibly earlier Mr Punch seems to be shown like this from the mid 18th to mid 19th century. It has been superbly designed and is in super condition for its age being free from dings holes and repairs, splits to the bell frill and a bell is missing. It measures approx. 5.5 inches (14cms) long by 1.5 inches (3.8cms) front to back by 1 inch (2.6cms) wide and weighs 26 grams. A rare museum worthy piece.
