Superb English Solid Sterling Silver Cheney Crested Traverlling Inkwell 1813

19th century
Description

A very high quality English Georgian solid sterling silver travelling inkwell. It is hallmarked for London 1813 with the maker's mark being TD for Thomas Dicks. It has been beautifully engraved with the crest and motto of the Cheney Family and the initials RC hence you may be able to find out who originally owned it, Richard, Robert, Ruth Cheney? It is in superb condition. The silver is free from dings splits and repairs. The glass is free from cracks chips and repairs. the rubber seal is a little perished but could easily be replaced. It measures approx. 1.5 inches (3.8cms) by 1.25 inches tall and weighs 75 grams. A beautiful interesting and rare piece.
