Description

Size: 8ft 11in x 6ft 9in (272 x 207cm).

Antique Afghan carpet with traditional Ersari design, this carpet has superb colour with a very good warm red field. The carpet has three rows of five large guls which are drawn in a very pleasing mid indigo blue.

Circa 1900.

The carpet is of a very useful small size with a squarer shape than is often found. The carpet was woven by settled Ersari weavers in Northern Afghanistan.

The carpet is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile, this is a really outstanding example of Afghan village weaving. Note the original checkerboard end finishes.

The carpet has been hand washed and ready for use or display.

The carpet is suitable for heavy domestic floor use.
