Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The carpet has three rows of five large guls which are drawn in a very pleasing mid indigo blue.

The carpet is of a very useful small size with a squarer shape than is often found. The carpet was woven by settled Ersari weavers in Northern Afghanistan.
The carpet is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile, this is a really outstanding example of Afghan village weaving. Note the original checkerboard end finishes.
The carpet has been hand washed and ready for use or display.
The carpet is suitable for heavy domestic floor use.
