A most unusual inlaid bronze and cloisonne lamp base , formed as a bronze inlaid figure holding a cloisonne gilt bronze mounted urn . The cloisonne urn is good quality and perfect , unusually the base which appears to be gilded wood is in fact heavy gauge bronze with gilded decoration , probably designed to avoid the lamp being knocked over . The lamp has been rewired , the measurements are to the top of the cloisonne urn but the lamp is fitted with a modern shade. Altogether a most unusual , decorative and attractive figure . Although made as an electric lamp this figure is late Meiji .Don has been dealing in Meiji period art for 60 years , exhibiting in London , New York , Baltimore , Miami and Shanghai. P . R .China .
