Description

An elegant, sturdy and solid large size George III silver Sugar Bowl. This twin handled bowl is nicely designed in lovely Georgian style and has handles either side. The body of the bowl has a lightly engraved heraldic animal passant and the top of the bowl has a lovely reeded edge. The bowl is further enhanced by a deep yellow gilt wash interior. It sits on an oval shaped foot.

Hallmarks are visible on one side just beneath the handle for the London Assay office with a date mark for 1812 and Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver. The maker's mark are also clear: Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard I.

This wonderful, early Sugar Bowl, feels lovely when picked up and would look perfect on any tea tray or dining table setting and rare to be produced by a female silversmith.

Condition: There are some small indentations and slight creases to the body of the sugar bowl - they do not detract from this item and we mention them for complete accuracy.
