Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Clear, crisp hallmarks are visible on both the blade and where the handle is attached to the silver (see images), for the Sheffield Assay office and a date mark for 1900, along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and silver maker's mark for the silversmith: Arthur Priestley & Co.

The knife comes in the attractive original royal blue velvet and satin lined presentation case.
This is an exceptional cake knife and would be wonderful as a wedding gift, for use at a wedding or for any celebration cake. It is in super condition. As well as being exquisite, this item is also very practical!
