Superb Large Antique Victorian Carved Gothic Oak Library Bookcase C1860 Wprv4793/19.5

Description

This is a superb antique victorian carved gothic oak bookcase and dating form around 1860. Constructed from solid and profusely carved oak with a heavy flared cornice top with three lion masks holding brass rings and with a double carved frieze above two original leaded glazed doors with beautifully carved panels to either side of grape and vine and with carved eagles to the interior there are three adjustable shelves. The base has a carved edge to the top with a deep and heavily carved frieze drawer which is mahogany lined and with a mask handle to the centre. This is above two geometrically carved panelled doors with with central masks and dividing the two doors is a beautifully carved carytatid. Internally there is a shelf and it is carved to the deep plinth base.

The top separates from the base for ease of transporting.

A most handsome large and stunningly carved victorian gothis oak bookcase in very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the oak.

Measures: 92" high X 38" to top of base X 23" deep X internal depth 9" X 48" wide
