Unusual Silver Locket Style Stamp Case Birmingham 1918

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

Beautiful and very fine solid silver Stamp Case in locket form. Hinged at the bottom the case opens at the top and has a most attractive opening button. When opened two compartments are revealed. Here the hallmarks are clearly visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1914 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker''s mark is also very clear for the silver maker Albert Ernest Jenkins. The engraving to the outside of the case is charming: a swirling pattern on the front with empty cartouch on one corner. The back is beautifully engraved with swirls.
