We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Coral jewellery achieved significant popularity during the mid-to-late nineteenth century in Britain and Europe, driven by Grand Tour souvenirs and romantic naturalism trends. Crafted in multi-tiered or cluster formations, these pieces utilised Mediterranean coral set in high-karat gold or wire mountings.

Victorian coral brooches typically feature natural Mediterranean salmon or red coral beads and cabochons. These organic gems were mounted on 15ct or 18ct yellow gold frame wirework, often secured with extended pin mechanisms.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces exhibit hand-carved or hand-turned coral beads displaying natural surface grain and subtle colour variation rather than perfectly uniform synthetic dye. Metal components often carry 15ct hallmarks, a standard used in the United Kingdom between 1854 and 1932, alongside period tube hinges and extended C-clasps.

While primarily worn on tailored coats, lapels, or silk scarves, antique brooches can also be styled within a contemporary interior by mounting them inside a velvet-lined shadow box or displaying them on a dressing table tray.

Coral is an organic gemstone susceptible to damage from heat, acids, and household chemicals. Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly dampened cloth with mild soapy water, avoiding steam, ultrasonic cleaners, and direct exposure to cosmetics or perfume.
