This nineteenth-century Royal Vienna porcelain cabinet plate has an octagonal rim and a cobalt blue and gold colour palette. The piece is finished with heavy gilding, an enamelled border featuring hand-painted flowers and birds in gold leaf, and a central hand-painted classical scene of a seated young woman in a pink and yellow garment and a winged cherub with blue drapery beside a stone fountain in a garden. The outer border includes geometric blue and white enamel diamond accents, and the edge shows an alternating pattern of dark panels and gilded flourishes. Measuring 23 cm high, 23 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, this plate is suited for display on a bookshelf or within a cabinet setting in a traditional home.

Royal Vienna porcelain refers to fine ceramics produced by the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna from 1718 to 1864, as well as high-quality pieces created in that classical style by other European studios during the late nineteenth century.

Cabinet plates are typically crafted from hard-paste porcelain, decorated by hand using enamel pigments for central scenes, and finished with raised gilding or applied gold leaf border work.

Authentic pieces usually feature fine hand-painted central vignettes signed by the painter, elaborate gilded ornamentation over a rich ground colour, and the beehive or shield mark painted underglaze or impressed on the reverse.

Place the plate on a brass display stand inside a glazed bookcase, position it on a mantelpiece, or integrate it into a curated plate gallery wall alongside framed art.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoid liquid solvents or abrasive chemicals, and keep the piece dry to prevent oxidisation or wear to the surface gilding and hand-painted pigments.
