Unusual Silver Swivel Tea Strainer Birmingham 1912

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

An unusual silver Tea Strainer. This lovely item is in the form of a small cup in which sits a swivel tea strainer (the idea is to turn the cup on one side which allows pouring of the tea through the strainer and when turned back allows the cup to act as a drip tray.) The strainer has a lovely brown ebony handle. Hallmarks are visible on one side of the cup, with partial hallmarks also visible on the strainer, for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1912, Lion Passant indicating sterling silver and the maker''s mark for the silver maker: Sanders & Mackensie.
