Edwardian Single Silver Sovereign Case

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A nicely engraved Edwardian, solid silver single sovereign holder case with a loop for attachment. The engraving consists of swirling patterns and there is an empty cartouche in the centre of the front. Spring loaded, the case works perfectly and is in nice antique condition (there is a very small dent to the centre of the empty cartouche which we mention for accuracy).

Hallmarks are visible on the inside of the lid for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1901 and maker''s mark for Alfred Wigley. (The hallmarks are visible but slightly worn). Partial marks are also visible on the spring loaded side of the case.
