Edwardian Enamelled Silver Book Form Stamp Case

An unusual and interesting solid silver stamp case, with a swivel opening, in the form of a book. The front is beautifully enamelled with the word 'Stamps' with neat engraving either side. The back is a plain polished silver where the hallmarks are very clearly visible for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1904, Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and silver maker's mark: Crisford & Norris Ltd. The sides have small grooves to imitate the pages of a book. There is a small ball on the top left to enable the case to be opened, pivoting on the bottom left corner. The inside is silver gilt and is marked on the top with the lion passant and the date letter. There is a loop at one side for attachment.

 

A superb stamp case and in lovely antique collector's condition.
