A first rate pair of splendid Victorian, fiddle pattern silver ladles. The ladles are a lovely plain polished silver and a good heavy gauge, which feel lovely to hold in the hand. The back of each terminal bear the very clear hallmarks for the London Assay office with a date mark for 1839, Lion Passant, indicating the finest sterling silver, with silver maker''s mark for the renowned silversmith: William Eaton.
