A superb, unusual and rare solid silver Sovereign Case in the shape of a heart . The case is wonderfully decorated with swirls and leaf patterns engraved on one side with an empty cartouch in the centre, the back is a lovely plain polished silver with no engravings or embossing. The case opens with a press button top and hinged side. When opened the sovereign compartment is revealed (which is spring loaded and works faultlessly). The underside of the lid bear hallmarks for the Chester Assay office with a date mark for 1913 along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and maker''s marks for the silversmith: Samuel M Levi.
