We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The bureau bookcase evolved in the late 17th century as a combination of a slant-front writing desk and a shelved upper cabinet, becoming highly popular during the Georgian and Victorian eras for home administration and library storage.

These pieces were typically constructed using a solid timber frame, such as oak or pine, veneered with highly figured decorative woods like burr walnut or mahogany, and finished with dovetail joints and brass hardware.

Authenticity is assessed by examining hand-cut dovetailing, period-appropriate brass handles, the presence of old-growth timber grain, and natural signs of age such as shrinkage cracks and oxidized surfaces.

It serves as a striking statement piece in a study or living room, offering a balance of hidden storage and display space while anchoring the room with rich wooden tones and classic proportions.

To preserve the wood and veneer, keep the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply traditional beeswax periodically to nourish the surface.
