Art Nouveau Silver Nurses Buckle Birmingham 1907

A superb Edwardian solid silver buckle in a beauteous design so synonymous with the Art Nouveau period. The decoration has wonderfully organic forms and the finish is slightly hammered. The reverse side of the buckle bears the hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1907 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver on one side of the buckle with the maker''s mark for Deakin & Francis. Partial hallmarks can also be seen on to the other buckle half.
