Edwardian Silver Vesta Case Birmingham 1902

A charming solid silver vesta case, nicely engraved with a very attractive scrolling pattern with leaves to both the front and back, and a lovely shield shaped vacant cartouche in the centre. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and there is a good fastening loop on one side. The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1902 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith''s maker''s mark: William Thorneywork.
