Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A very pretty Edwardian solid silver Vesta Case. Nicely shaped, with curved corners, the vesta is beautifully engraved, with an engine turned pattern to the background and a wonderful floral design to both the front and the back. Hinged to one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly. When open clear hallmarks are visible on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1903 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker's mark is also very clear for the silvermaker: Joseph Gloster.
There is a good fastening loop to one side.
A lovely Vesta, unusual shape and engraving and in great antique collector's condition.
Hallmarks and maker's marks: Birmingham 1903 by Joseph Gloster.
Height: 4.8 cm approx.
Width: 3.2 cm not including loop.
Weight: 21.5 grams approx.
