Art Deco Silver Cigarette Box Sheffield 1929

Iconic Art Deco design, fabulous sterling silver Cigarette Box. This rectangular box has an unusually shaped lid which is decorated with a handsome engine turned pattern. There is an empty cartouch in the centre of the lid. When the hinged lid is opened, a wooden interior is revealed comprising of two compartments. The base of the box has a leatherette finish within the silver frame.
 
Hallmarks are visible on the front of the box for the Sheffield Assay Office with a date mark of 1929 and Lion Passant Indicating the finest sterling silver.
 
The maker''s mark is also visible for the silversmith: James Dixon & Sons Ltd.
 
 
 
Although made to hold Cigarettes, this handsome Box would be lovely for Jewellery or Trinkets.
 
 
 
Condition: In very good antique condition (there are some very small minor surface dings to the silver sides, commensurate with age and mentioned for accuracy only not noticeable unless examined closely).
