Regency Waterfall Bookcase 185cm

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Tom Scott Antiques

Unusual Regency period waterfall bookcase in mahogany, circa 1820.

The open waterfall bookcase gives generous space for books or display with the four surfaces.

The cabinet base has two drawers and below there are the two doors which open up to give you further storage. Two surfaces in the base, fixed shelf.

The colouring to the bookcase is lovely. Gently faded mahogany to the front, whilst the sides have retained their original colour, being a richer mahogany tone.

The two doors are inlaid with a boxwood and ebony stringing, some losses through fading here, but nothing major and doesn''t detract from the piece.

The back of the open shelving is lined with a dark green crushed velvet, certainly has been there a long time, could be original.

Lovely piece, stands very well and is elegant. All dimensions are shown below, but any queries, do get in touch.
