Edwardian Silver Double Sovereign Case Chester 1902

A superior, Edwardian, solid silver double Sovereign Case of the finest quality. The lozenge shaped case is a lovely plain polished silver with no engraving or embossing to the exterior. It has a spring loaded hinged lid, opened by a push button, and has a loop to one side for attachment. When the lid is open two sovereign compartments are visible where partial hallmarks on both of the compartment rims are clear and crisp, with a fabulous neat engine turned pattern engraved to the centre pieces (see images). Hallmarks to the underneath of the lid are also visible for the Chester Assay Office with a date mark for 1902 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver along with the maker''s mark: William Neale.
 
 
 
The superb craftmanship of the silver maker is very evident. The case is in excellent antique collector''s condition. It opens and closes perfectly.
