Sold by: Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this exceptional quality Meiji period 1868-1912 double skinned Silver Fruit bowl , the large and heavy quality Silver bowl has been typically formed as a double walled vessel allowing the artist to present the exterior skin in painstaking hand beaten detail , the hand planished outer surface is decorated throughout with Chrysanthemums in high relief upon a scalloped and lobed shaped bowl , the 16 lobed sections representative of an Imperial Chrysanthemum, as if this was not tricky enough the artist has created a further identical shaped plain liner to sit within the bowl , this time in polished form , with both skins seamed at the top and standing upon a tapered Silver foot rim , the underside stamped Sterling indicating a high 950 Silver content , a fabulous and very functional addition to your room setting or Japanese works of art collection .
