Superb Double Silver Sovereign Case Birmingham 1906

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A superb, Edwardian, solid silver double Sovereign Case. The exterior of the case is a handsome plain polished silver on both sides with no engraving or embossing. The case opens by a push of a button on the side which operates the spring loaded mechanism. Inside reveals two compartments for 2 sovereigns. The inside of the lid reveals the clear hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1906 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. Partial marks are also visible on the frame of each sovereign compartment (see images). The case closes nicely with a firm click. There is a good loop to one side for attachment.
