This is a superb antique victorian gothic oak library bookcase display cabinet and dating from aorund 1860. Constructed from solid carved oak this superb bookcase was sold as part of the contents of 'welham park' in nottinghamshire and we have the original catalogue from the sale dated 1954 in which part of the description reads " a richly carved oak display cabinet, the upper part with three arcaded glass panels, three frieze drawers and cupboards to the base carved in bold releif with lion masks and carytatids over panels of fan fluting and gadrooning".

The bookcase cabinet is also featured in the daily mails 'you' magazine dated 1993 where the owner (a famous novelist) was pictured next to her 'favourite bookcase' taken at her home in an umbrian palazzo!!

This gorgeous and well travelled bookcase has now found its way back to england and we are fortunate enough to be able to offer it up for sale.

The bookcase measures: 99" high X height to base 44" X 21" deep X internal depth (top) 9.3/4" X 81" wide.

Height of shelves are: top shelf 16" ,middle shelf 11" and the height of the two bottom shelves are 10".

The top separates from the base for ease of transporting
