Fine Victorian Silver Card Case By George Unite Birmingham 1883

A truly superb Victorian, solid silver stamp case. The case is rectangular with lovely shaped edges. The splendid exceptionally crisp engraving to both the front and the back of the case depicts lovely flora and fauna, with a monogram in the central cartouch to the front of the case. The lid is hinged and when opened, reveals a rich golden gilt interior. Clear hallmarks are visible on the inside lip of the case for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1883 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The maker''s marks for the renowned silversmith George Unite are also clearly visible.
 
This is a most impressive item. Beautifully crafted, very tactile, and in super antique collector''s condition.
 
Unusually, this Case also comes in the original brown leatherette presentation box - fabulous!
