A very handsome, solid silver box (could be used for cigarettes ). Lovely square design and decorated on the lid with a neat engine turned design. There is a small empty square cartouch in one corner. The lid is hinged on one side and when opens reveals a lovely clean wooden interior. It has a leatherette base that sits beneath a silver frame. Clear hallmarks are visible to one side on both the base and partial marks on the lid for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1938 and maker''s marks for the silversmith: Blanckensee & Son.
