Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

Very fine and very rare this Edwardian, solid silver stamp case, in the form of an envelope is thicker in depth than those usually seen, making this item very collectable! The hinged lid opens to allow placement of stamps inside. On the right hand top corner there is a loop for attachment.

When the hinged lid is opened clear hallmarks are revealed for The Birmingham Assay Office and a date mark for 1902. There are also maker''s marks, for the silversmiths: Gourdel Vales & Co and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The case contains an original green half penny stamp!

Condition: This stamp case is in great antique condition. The hinge works perfectly. There are some very minor dents to the silver, commensurate with age and we mention these for accuracy only.
