Silver & Velvet Heart Trinket Box Birmingham 1903

1900 - 1920
Description

An unusual Edwardian trinket box. Beautifully made from silver and blue velvet, the box comes in the shape of a perfect heart. The side of the box forms the heart shape, is made from solid silver and clear hallmarks are visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1903. The Lion Passant indicating sterling silver can also be seen along with the maker's marks for the renowned silversmiths: Levi & Salaman. The base of the box and the lid are covered in a lovely navy blue velvet material and the top is padded. The lid is hinged and opens and closes perfectly. The interior is a lovely navy blue satin.

The box is a good size for holding precious trinkets! and rare to find one made with silver and velvet!

Condition: This box is in great antique condition and the velvet is not marked or stained (there is a very slight fade to the very edges of the material, and a very slight wear at the back of the box just below the hinge, not noticeable unless examined very closely, that I mention for accuracy and is commensurate with age and does not detract from the item). The satin on the inside base of the box is very slightly marked.

Hallmarks and maker's marks: Birmingham 1903 by Levi & Salaman

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
