Regency Mahogany Inlaid Bookcase Cabinet

Description

This is an elegant Regency period, inlaid bookcase cabinet with the most attractive neat proportions. The bookcase is of good quality construction with an upper astragral glazed cabinet solid brass closing bar and working lock and key. The drawers are all oak lined and in super order, running freely. The bookcase has a beautiful colour and excellent patina. There is a very small, minor repair to the right hand side of the upper cabinet where it meets the lower base section, barely noticeable and part of the history of the piece. This has attractive matching inlays to the base and the upper shelved section. The shelves are multi positional in the cabinet.

The bookcase is a super example from around 1820 and is rare for its proportions making it suitable for even a very narrow alcove.

The bookcase measures 182 cms high by 71 cms wide and 34 cms deep.
